This is how Da Bomb hot sauce from Hot Ones is made
Are you a hot sauce enthusiast? Then you’ve probably heard of “Da Bomb Beyond Insanity,” one of the most feared hot sauces in the world. As you probably know, this fiery sauce owes its reputation mainly to the popular YouTube series “Hot Ones,” where even the toughest celebrities succumb to the intense heat.
How is Da Bomb made?
Until now, it was always a mystery how Spicin, the maker of Da Bomb, made their hot sauce so incredibly hot. That is, until Lisa Nguyen (a Food YouTuber with over 5 million subscribers) came by with her crew to film the entire process.
The base of “Da Bomb” consists of a relatively unknown mix of ingredients. Habanero peppers form the foundation, complemented by chipotle peppers for a smoky twist. But the real secret? It’s in the addition of pure capsaicin extract, the component that gives peppers their heat. In the video below, you can see the complete production process, including the moment (at 5 minutes 45 seconds) when the black capsaicin liquid is added. That stuff looks nasty, I tell you.
Safety first
What stands out during the production process is the extreme caution with which they work. The employees wear protective clothing, including masks and gloves. And for good reason – even the vapors of this sauce can be quite spicy, as Lisa also indicates in the video.
Not made for hot wings
One of the people behind Da Bomb mentions during the interview that the sauce is mainly made for large stews. Just a few drops are enough to make an entire pot very spicy. The fact that they completely coat small chicken wings with this stuff on Hot Ones makes you realize that those “dying” celebrities are not exaggerating.
