This Fil Bird’s Eye Shatta is a Palestinian fermented chili paste, made in Amsterdam. It can be described as a Palestinian sambal, based on bell peppers & peppers and using olive oil to preserve it. You can assume it’s good olive oil, because that’s something Palestine is known for! Vinegar has also been used and the result is a deliciously balanced fresh shatta with an initial acidic and savoury flavour profile, rounded off with some sweetness. The Bird’s Eye Chilli adds a great dose of heat, without getting too powerful. Very versatile, but especially delicious with pizza, mixed with tomato puree or added to Asian curries!
